U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) issued the following statement today in response to a PHX Reporter article showing that the majority of "heat related" deaths in Maricopa County in 2023 involved alcohol and/or drugs, including fentanyl, or were among homeless people.
This report comes as U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Phoenix) has asked the federal government to add "extreme heat" to the list of Federal Emergency Management Agency's list of major disaster qualifying events, and as Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) and the city of Phoenix have created "chief heat officer" positions.
“Arizona’s always been hot; it will always be hot, The spike in ‘heat-related’ deaths comes from Biden’s open border and Biden’s terrible economy. Under Biden, more people and more fentanyl are on the streets. President Trump and I will fix this.”
Blake is a Conservative, America First Republican running to represent Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.
A father, husband, entrepreneur and bestselling author, Blake was endorsed by President Donald Trump in his 2022 race for U.S. Senate.
Blake grew up and attended high school in Arizona before graduating from Stanford University and Stanford Law School. He and his wife, Catherine, have four sons.
