Masters hold slight lead in primary; reports show Masters favored in head to head with Hamadeh

A new survey of Republican primary voters in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District shows that while U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) holds a 1 point lead in the overall primary, with candidate Abe Hamadeh in second place, a significant majority of Trent Franks voters favor Masters over Hamadeh as a second choice.

Currently, Masters holds a 1-point lead over Hamadeh in the GOP primary for Congress, with Masters at 27% and Hamadeh at 26%. Ben Toma (17%) and Trent Franks (16%) are also winning significant portions of the primary vote. The remaining candidates each win less than 5%, while 9% are still undecided.

While neither Toma or Franks individually threaten Masters' lead, a significant portion of Franks' voters would pick Masters over Hamadeh if Franks was not an option. When asked who their second choice in the race was, 39% of Franks' voters said Masters, while only 10% said Hamadeh. In a head-to-head matchup, Franks’ voters pick Masters over Hamadeh by a 65% - 17%  margin
